What is Iodine?
Iodine is an essential mineral found naturally in oceans, soil,  and in foods like seafood, dairy products, eggs and iodized salt.
The body cannot produce iodine on its own.
Iodine is indispensable for making thyroid hormones, supporting metabolism, growth, and especially for developing the brain and nervous system in fetuses and young children.
Lack of iodine can cause Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), Goitre (an enlarged thyroid gland), and in severe cases, intellectual disabilities due to impaired brain development.
